Walt,
I run 40:1 in my old stuff with no problems. I would think as long as you have a quality oil and good high octane fuel, you should have no problem with a 40:1 ratio, I have heard guys getting better ring seal and a bit more hp with 35:1, but haven't seen that myself.
I've run 112 octane sunoco race fuel cut 50/50 with BP 93 octane premium mixed with either Blue Marbel or Klotz supertechniplate in my vintage stuff the last 4 or 5 years with no problems.
20:1 seems to be a waste of oil to me, but again, that's just me.

Leaded 112 sunoco, not for highway use. around 5 bucks per gallon.
I haven't had any problems with it in the past, but it is an underground tank, so how fresh it is up for grabs. For my timing advanced stockers and mod single it has worked fine so far. I don't think I would try to race the Soo I-500 with it, be better off buying VP or something in a sealed drum for that matter. Works good in the mild tuned stuff.

I was getting torco 110 for like 6.49 gal, its in a 500 gal tank, I don't know how fresh it is either. I may buy a barrel next year. _________________ Wright Racing #74 |

| It use to be you could get either 90 or 100 octane in avgas, we use to run it in our race car, but that was 20 years ago. BOBBY |

| If anyone is interested in buying and splitting up a drum of VP I'd be real interested and willing to split one or how ever many ways. |

Make sure you have enough compression to handle the high octane. High octane fuel in an low compression engine is actually a bad deal. I also run 32:1 ratio synthetic oil
